Arsenal announced the signing of Petr Cech on Monday (via Arsenal.com), and reports indicate that we’re set to make him one of the highest-paid goalkeepers on the planet.
According to Jeremy Wilson from The Telegraph, Cech will earn more than £100,000 per week after penning a four-year deal, a substantial package to offer a 33-year-old goalkeeper.

The Telegraph have included Cech among the best-paid goalkeepers in the world, but he’s still some way off some of the top earners in his position.

8) David de Gea – £55,000 p/w
The Manchester United shot-stopper it out of contract next summer which indicates why he’s so low on this list despite his sensational performances over the past 18 months.
Named the club’s Player of the Year for two seasons running, de Gea definitely deserves to be among the best paid, and a potential move to Real Madrid could see him multiply his current earnings.
7) Gigi Buffon – £60,000 p/w
The Telegraph report that the Juventus legend took a huge pay cut a few seasons ago in order to remain at the club, and it’s turned out to be a good decision.
The Italian is still going strong at 37 and guided the Old Lady to the Champions League final last season.
