Unai Emery has revealed why he continues to select Henrikh Mkhitaryan in big matches (via Arsenal.com).
It’s an important time of the season and Arsenal only seem to be playing massive fixtures which could decide the success of Unai Emery’s first season at the club.
The Gunners took on Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday and in the next ten days, will take on Manchester United as well as both legs of their Europa League clash with Rennes.
One man who is finding a good run of form is Henrikh Mkhitaryan and now, Emery has revealed why he keeps picking the Armenian international in big matches.
“He can do it, because physically he has a big [capacity],” Emery said.
“He can get to the two boxes, defensively and offensively. After that, I think he also has the quality to help us in our style of play and for example, he usually can play 90 minutes with being consistent in his work. Another player, maybe, cannot do that with this big intensity.
“On Saturday we changed some players after Wednesday, we changed also some players to get fresh players, fresh energy and I think it’s a good combination and was important to help us. Not for winning today, but for being closer to do that.”
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is one of the form players at Arsenal right now. The Armenian is in his best run of performances since he joined the Gunners over a year ago and seems to be adapting well to Unai Emery’s style of play. Let’s hope he shows that again in the coming weeks.
