Arsenal’s head coach Unai Emery has revealed how many more players he wants the club to sign during this summer transfer window (via Arsenal.com).
It has been Arsenal’s most efficient and productive summer transfer window for many years and there is still a few weeks left.
This week, the Gunners added Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi to the list of summer recruits which also includes Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno.
Those are five players in five key positions which the team needed to strengthen and in his press conference on Thursday, head coach Unai Emery was asked if he wants to bring in any more players before the window shuts next month.
“Normally, in my career, the big clubs don’t close the [door] or the moment to sign a new player,” Emery told the press.
“Today, we are okay. Maybe we can bring in one if there’s a very good possibility for them to help us, but the club has done a great job of signing new players and I am happy.”

“We signed the players who we needed and only if one player is a big opportunity for us will we sign them.
“Normally, we are thinking about the young players, the possibility of them staying with us or going to play on loan at another team.
“We are also thinking about the players who were with us last year and whether we need them to stay with us.
“At the moment, I think the squad is complete. We will only sign another player if there is an opportunity to bring in that one player, or two players. We will only sign a player in the next month if he’s a big opportunity.”
So, it seems that Unai Emery isn’t desperate for another signing but will certainly make a move if a player comes up. The responses from Emery were reminiscent of Arsene Wenger’s whenever he was asked this question by the press. Let’s wait and see if any further business is completed.
