Unai Emery has revealed the two areas of the pitch he wants Arsenal to strengthen in the transfer window (via Arsenal.com).
The January window is open and clubs are free to sign players but very few Premier League sides have been busy in the last few weeks.
That may change in the next week with Arsenal reportedly keen on bringing in two players before January is over.
In his pre-match press conference, Unai Emery was asked which two positions he would like to strengthen and he echoed the opinions of many Gunners fans.
“The idea is firstly to find the quality and this quality can help us. We need, if he can come here, a winger for the right or left or some players also at centre back,” Emery told the press.
“But now, Dinos Mavropanos is coming back after his injuries and I think I can use him in the next matches.

“It’s difficult, you know, but I am working with our players and I think we need – and we can – sign some players to help after our injuries like Rob Holding, like Welbeck, like Hector Bellerin.
“But we can play with the players we have now and the same message is to you and every supporter, we only want to sign one or two players who can really help us with good performances.
“The club is working. They know our intentions, our possibilities for signing players that can help us, but they work and also with communication to us.”
So, it seems as if Unai Emery is keen on bringing in two players to help the squad during the remainder of the season. The Gunners are crying out for a centre-back and a direct, pacy winger so hopefully, that can come to fruition in the coming months.
