Wenger makes secret phone call to Benzema as Arsenal switch edges closer
Fenerbahçe are spending big at the moment, and are looking to make themselves contenders in Europe. A number of big stars are on their transfer list this summer (via the Daily Mail), with Mesut Özil seemingly topping it.
The German international recently revealed that he was a Fenerbahçe fan, but clearly not enough of a fan to make the switch to Turkey.
“Everyone knows I am a Fenerbahçe fan,” Özil said (via Sabah)
It seems strange that the club – who are relative minnows when compared to Arsenal and Real Madrid – could even think they had any chance of luring the World Cup winner away, but Özil claimed it was an honour to even be linked with the club he supports.

“The offer from Fenerbahçe was an honour but I want to continue in England for now,” he continued, as quoted by Sabah.
We are finally starting to see the best from the former Madrid man, who struggled to adapt to life in England initially. He returned to the side a new man following his injury last season, and was a massive part of our success in 2015.
There’s no reason why he’d want to leave right now, and there’s certainly no reason we would want to sell him.
