Former Arsenal star Edu believes our super summer signing Alexis Sanchez is currently one of the top five players in football, according to the Evening Standard.
The Chilean has really hit the ground running at Arsenal, and he looks to be arguably the Premier League’s best signing of the season.
He is experiencing something of a goal drought by his lofty standards – failing to score in his last six games – but has still managed to net 18 times this campaign already.
Edu has heaped praise on the 26-year-old, and believes he has done superbly to adapt so quickly to the rigours of English football.
“At the moment he is doing fantastically well for Arsenal – he is arguably their best player of the season so far,” said Edu.

“Many people say that he is one of the current top five players in the world in the position he plays in.
“He was also very good at Barcelona last season and that gave him great experience by playing for such a large club. He is a very important player for Arsenal.
“He has adapted very well to English football but that doesn’t surprise me, given his talent. English football is a different style of football, especially if you contrast it with Barcelona’s unique style. He is very strong player too which surprises many people.
“I don’t like to compare players from the past with current players as it depends on the moment that they are playing in, both internationally and at club level.
“It would be difficult to compare the top players I played with and Alexis Sanchez. But Sanchez is doing very well and he is still young and will develop into becoming an even better player.”
Sanchez hasn’t looked his magical self lately, and has seen opportunities pass him by that he would have grabbed with both hands earlier in the season.
He is the kind of player that still brings a huge amount to the side however, even when he is having an off day.
His impressive work-rate and tireless nature make him a fantastic asset, and he has already cemented himself firmly as a fan favourite at the club.
