Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has called on Arsene Wenger to sign a top-class striker and end the uncertainty surrounding the forward position at the club, according to Sky Sports.
After our shock defeat to West Ham United in which we never looked like scoring, the centre-forward position has once again reignited a debate among analysts and fans alike.
Olivier Giroud was given the nod to start on Sunday while Theo Walcott started against Chelsea in the Community Shield, leading Parlour to believe that Wenger doesn’t currently know who his first choice striker is.

“If you look at Man City, you know Sergio Aguero is their main man, for Manchester United it’s Wayne Rooney and at Chelsea, it’s Diego Costa. Who is it at Arsenal?” Parlour told Sky Sports News HQ.
“I didn’t know who would start for Arsenal on Sunday because Theo Walcott started the Community Shield. I don’t think they have someone who you can say ‘he’s definitely going to play and he will score us goals’.”

There seems to be a lack of quality strikers available on the market this summer, but we can hardly use that as an excuse given our need for a top-class option in that position since the departure of Robin van Persie.
Looking at our direct rivals, it’s quite clear that they all possess a forward who can drag them through games, and it could be the difference in the title race.
Hopefully Wenger identifies a target and brings someone in before the window shuts.
