Former England international Rodney Marsh is reporting that Real Madrid have accepted an offer from Arsenal for Karim Benzema, in what could turn out to be another twist in this drawn-out saga.
>No, I said Real had accepted a bid from Arsenal – more to follow https://t.co/mxhp8pvyVU

Marsh, who was once employed by Sky as a broadcaster, is now a freelance reporter and after being asked by an account on Twitter to clarify his take on the Benzema situation, he revealed that a fee has been agreed.
It had seemed that the Benzema rumours would die down after Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez hinted that the Frenchman was very much part of his plans.
“Benzema is a great player,” Benitez was quoted as saying (via Sky Sports).
“And one of my ideas this year is that he exceeds the barrier of 20-25 goals.”

Given that the Spanish giants don’t seem to be adding another forward to their ranks, it seems odd that they would let go of their only recognised striker. However, many didn’t believe that Mesut Ozil or Angel di Maria would be allowed to depart the Bernabeu either.
A world-class striker would certainly enhance our chances of achieving success this season, but the lack of viable options on the market mean that we may have to go into the season with the squad we currently have.
The fact that Marsh is the only outlet currently reporting this latest development mean that it will probably prove to be baseless.
