Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez is looking to strengthen his squad the summer and is reportedly eyeing our defensive rock Laurent Koscielny, France Football reports.
The former Liverpool boss repeatedly attempted to lure Koscielny during his time at Napoli, the report suggests and is now hoping to prize him to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid are well stocked in the defensive area with the likes of Sergio Ramos, Pepe and Raphael Varane all competing for a starting spot.
Benitez would need to upset a number of his stars if he were to bring Koscielny in but will no doubt face stern resilience from Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal transfer news
France Football reports that Koscielny’s contract extension last season means that he’s committed his future until 2019 and at the age of 29, the club has clearly made sure that we tie him down for his prime years.

Despite the reliability of France Football in the past, it is difficult to see this move transpiring due to a number of reasons. Not only do the Spanish giants have enough central defenders, the price we’d demand should we even entertain an offer could potentially put them off.
Also, if the club decided to dig its heels in and refuse to sell our star, Koscielny doesn’t seem like a player who could potentially cause a fuss.
If there was once a time when we’d read reports regarding clubs being interested in our players with slight trepidation, those times have passed.
Koscielny can see that we’re in the business of buying the best talent in Europe, not selling them.
