Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has predicted that we’ll be going into Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace under huge pressure to get a result and record our first win of the season, he told Sky Sports.
After the shock defeat at home to West Ham United, it seems as though the optimism from pre-season has been washed away and the realisation of what lies ahead has kicked in.
Given how quickly we exited the title race last season, a fast start was one of the targets ahead of the new campaign and another loss against Alan Pardew’s side will severely dent our hopes.

“They’ve got to win this one,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports.
“Imaging if they get beat again and all of a sudden you’re six points behind the likes of – say if Man City win – (and) it’s a start you just didn’t want.”

Redknapp, for once, speaks sense here, with the pressure on the players to get the win rather odd considering that it’s only the second game of the season.
However, there always seems to be doubts regarding our title credentials, and failure to record a win after two games will only reinforce the inevitable comments about out frailties.
A positive result, rather than a solid performance, is needed against Crystal Palace.
