Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes it’s obvious who the top five teams in the Premier League will be come the end of the 2015/16 season, and claims Liverpool will be the team to round off the the top four’s usual suspects (via The Telegraph).
When asked whether he could predict the standings, he replied: “No danger, I could pick the top five, I don’t know what order… [t]he [sic] top five will be Liverpool with the other four, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal.”
Despite being a longstanding rival of Arsenal and Arsene Wenger’s, Redknapp has seemingly been impressed by our recent form. He insists we are right up there with the rest of those challenging for the title, but believes we still need “one of [sic] two more” signings in order to top the English top flight.
We have been fantastic in pre-season, and the signing of Petr Cech has been a massive boost. If we continue in this fine vein of form then we are surely title contenders regardless of signings, but an acquisition or two certainly couldn’t hurt.
We have been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema in recent weeks (via the Express), and Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out a move for an “exceptional” player. Redknapp may well be right that we need another signing or two to clinch the title, but a player the calibre of Benzema would almost certainly propel us to where we need to be.
