Mesut Özil is starting to get the recognition he deserves for his creativity, and has been truly impressive this season. He and Santi Cazorla have been so good in fact, that between them they have created the same number of chances as the entire Manchester United team this season, as reported by The Independent.
Manchester United’s lack of creativity is no secret this season, and they’ve really struggled for goals at times. Their goalless draw against Crystal Palace over the weekend is their third in a row, and once again there was a real lack of attacking intent and quality going forward – not something you’d expect with players like Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, and Wayne Rooney in the side.
Louis van Gaal’s side have created just 81 chances this season, the exact same number as Cazorla and Özil. This shows how fantastic the Arsenal duo have been, but also how poor the Dutchman’s team have been; how they’ve managed to keep themselves in fourth is a bit of a mystery.
The German has found arguably his best form in an Arsenal shirt recently, and has been assisting consistently so far this season. Cazorla is obviously having less of an impact in the final third from his new deeper role, but is still a creative force.

The pair have been a massive part of our success so far this season, and will be vital to any title push we look to make.
