Arsene Wenger could be without Alexis Sanchez at the start of next season should the forward progress in the Copa America with hosts Chile, The Independent reports.
Taking part in back-to-back major international tournaments will be physically demanding for Alexis and in the event that his impressive Chile side reaches the final on July 4th, the 26-year-old would only return to us days before the opening game of the season.
Wenger is known to allow players busy with their national teams a four-week break in the summer, which would mean that Alexis is due back at London Colney on August 4th.
Arsenal transfer news
“That is not good news because they finish very late and if Chile go very far Sanchez will miss the start of the season,” Wenger confirmed.
Despite his natural eagerness to play, the former Barcelona will most likely need three weeks to become match fit, in a similar scenario to what our German contingent experienced last summer.

Scoring 22 goals so far in his debut season, it is quite frightening to imagine the heights Alexis can reach next term following his ‘adaptation’ period.
Let’s hope the fixtures are kind to us in the opening weeks of next season.
