The father of Lucas Torreira has told the Argentinean media that his son will join Arsenal after the World Cup (via Arsenal.com).
It’s a transfer which is looking more and more exciting for Arsenal fans with each passing day.
The potential move for Lucas Torreira has been in the pipeline for a month but the midfielder’s impressive performances in the World Cup would have made the transfer all the more exciting.
Torreira has really shown his influence for an Uruguay side which plays in the quarter-finals against France on Friday.
There has been a nagging feeling that Torreira’s performances have been a little too good and may have attracted some interest from other clubs.
However, the player’s father has seemingly confirmed that these worries are misplaced.

“It is as good as a fact that Lucas will join Arsenal,” Torreira’s father told Fox Sports Argentina.
“There are many clubs who contacted us but we have given our word to Arsenal and are very satisfied with what they offered.
“The deal is virtually done and only the arrival of Lucas is remaining.
“Arsenal offered to do the medical examinations in Russia but we decided against it because we felt it’s inconvenient, it is not the right time.”
It’s great to hear these comments from Lucas Torreira’s father. The midfielder has been hugely impressive for Uruguay during the World Cup and has showcased many of the skills which have been missing from Arsenal’s own midfield in recent years. Let’s hope the move gets made official soon.
