Many fans have turned on Arsene Wenger after our opening day defeat against West Ham, with an influx of bets being placed on the Frenchman being sacked, as reported by the Evening Standard.
Confidence was high ahead of the new season, with our fantastic second half of 2014/15 and our excellent pre-season seemingly standing us in great stead. Our performance against West Ham was nothing short of woeful though, and we deservedly crashed to a 2-0 defeat.
As the Standard says, the odds have been slashed on Wenger to lose his job. The 65-year-old was as long as 100/1 before the season began, but is now an incredible 20/1 to lose his job.
It’s crazy that so many fans have turned on Wenger so quickly, and just shows how fickle many can be. While the loss against West Ham was hugely disappointing, it was only one game.
Our recent performances show that we are more than capable of putting a title run together, and need to continue to show faith in Wenger.
