With less than a month remaining until our first pre-season fixture, our players will be back soon to be put through their paces by the coaching staff.
Often dismissed as a meaningless period, a good pre-season can lay the foundations for a successful campaign for a player – just look at Aaron Ramsey in 2013 as an example.
We’ve listed five players who need to make the most of the weeks leading up to the big kick-off:
5) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
- Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote’s bid to takeover Arsenal ‘edging closer’
- [Player ratings] Arsenal 0-1 Man City: Painfully early error inflicts defeat

It seems as though every season is billed as the one where the Ox will show his promise, but we’re still waiting. Injuries haven’t helped, but it certainly is time for the Southampton academy graduate to stake a claim in the first team.
He has the perfect blend of power, pace, and technique, and only really needs to work on his end product. With Theo Walcott still desperate to play up front, right-wing is a position we are arguably the weakest in. Arsene Wenger more often than not deploys players out of position on the right, with Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, and Danny Welbeck the other options available.
A solid pre-season could help cement Chamberlain’s place on the right, and is a good chance to make an impression on Wenger.
