Martinez was reportedly a target of ours this summer (via the Mirror), although the Colombian was often the cause of those stories with his constantly bizarre mentioning of our club.

Nevertheless, we’re still in need of a top class centre-forward, so here are five alternatives for the boss to consider:
5) Carlos Bacca

The Sevilla forward has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, with an affordable release clause apparently in his contract. A figure of £21.5m has been mooted, and meeting that price would immediately force his club to accept (via ESPN).
Bacca has been prolific for Sevilla over the past few seasons and netted a brace in the Europa League final as the La Liga side retained the trophy.
It therefore means that Sevilla have already booked their place in next season’s Champions League, which could be our advantage over Liverpool should we make a move.
