Laurent Koscielny has been linked with a somewhat surprising switch to Real Madrid, with the La Liga giants allegedly looking for a replacement for the potentially Manchester United bound Sergio Ramos, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal rumours
It seems highly unlikely that Arsene Wenger will let Koscielny leave the club, or indeed that the French defender would want to leave. He has blossomed into one of the Premier League’s finest centre-backs, and is a massive part of our defensive stability.
We can’t take anything for granted in modern football however, so we should think what life could be like post Koscielny.
Here are five potential replacements for the 29-year-old:

5) Toby Alderweireld – Atletico Madrid
The Belgian star was phenomenal while on loan at Southampton last season, and really proved that he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League. He suffered a few injuries, but when fit he was arguably the Saints’ top defender – and with Jose Fonte, Ryan Bertrand, and Nathaniel Clyne all performing superbly, it was a tough one to call.
We were allegedly on the verge of signing the 26-year-old last summer (via the Express), but the deal never materialised. Alderweireld would be an excellent signing regardless of whether Koscielny leaves, although without an exit this summer there probably isn’t room for him.
