Arsenal welcome Premier League strugglers Leicester City to Emirates this evening. Despite the loss to arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur, we will feel confident of continuing our strong home form and regaining grip on the top four.
A quick response is needed from Arsene Wenger’s men after the Spurs loss. Here are five reasons we can do it:
1. Solid home form
The Gunners have been consistent at home recently, emerging victorious in their last five Premier League home games (seven in all competitions). However, it has been over a year since they managed six successive wins at the Emirates. The last time they managed the feat was between September and December 2013.
2. Scoring for fun… at home

Arsenal have managed to net 26 goals at home this season, the most out of any Premier League side. The goals have been shared around recently with the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla netting recently. On its day, it is a very fluent forward line. Throw in top scorer Alexis Sanchez and Leicester will be quivering in their boots – the Tigers have managed just four clean sheets this season, the joint lowest in the league.
3. Struggling Foxes
Leicester are currently rock bottom of the Premier League. Only Aston Villa (who we smoked 5-0 in our last home match) have scored fewer than Leicester’s 21 goals.
The Foxes have also failed to score in 11 matches this season and have lost eight of their last 10 away league games, winning just one.
4. Head to head in Arsenal’s favour
Arsenal have not lost to Leicester in 16 matches, with their only loss in the Premier League era coming in the first clash in 1994. We have won each of the last seven league meetings on home soil too.
5. Arsenal need a response
Arsene Wenger has never lost a Premier League game against Leicester and he’s not about to now. Certainly the Foxes were excellent at the King Power Stadium at the beginning of the campaign but the Gunners need a strong reaction after Saturday’s loss to Spurs.
The lads will be up for it under the Emirates lights and get the season back on track.
