Unai Emery is set to hand a fresh chance to Lucas Perez at Arsenal after the player’s loan spells (via The Metro).
Lucas Perez has been a fascinating signing for Arsenal since his deadline day transfer from Deportivo La Coruna in 2016.
He was signed on the back of a 17-goal season for a Deportivo side which was at serious risk of relegation.
Lucas appeared to embody many of the traits which Arsenal’s attack lacked at that time but was rarely seen in the Arsenal starting lineup.
Instead, Lucas’ appearances were largely restricted to substitute and cup competitions where, incidentally, he impressed.
Perez finished the season with 8 goals and 6 assists in his 22 appearances but Arsene Wenger was seemingly unimpressed and sent the player on loan last season.
Lucas Pérez created 79 chances in LaLiga in 2017/18; Lionel Messi (87) was the only player in the league to create more.

After a shaky start, Perez started to shine in La Liga and now, Arsenal’s new head coach Unai Emery is set to give the player a second chance at the club.
Reports in Spain suggest that Emery is a fan of the player and has apparently told him to report for preseason training at the club in a few weeks.
It’s good to see Lucas Perez handed a second chance at Arsenal. He always impressed when brought on and just seemed capable of picking out that final pass or shot which so many other players lacked.
