Uruguay striker Diego Forlan believes Arsenal should continue their pursuit to sign his compatriot Luis Suarez if they want to challenge for the title this season.
The Liverpool striker has been subject to a series of bids from the Gunners who are desperate to bolster their frontline, however the Merseyside club are holding firm in their evaluation believed to be around the £50m mark – over triple Arsenal’s current record fee.
Forlan feels a deal for last seasons golden boot runner-up will go some way to fill the void left by legend Thierry Henry’s departure, and he is the missing ingredient for challenging for the Premier League title.
Forlan told reporters:
If they manage to sign Luis, then I think, with the players they already have, they would be serious title contenders again.
Only Luis knows what his plans are but he would be a great signing for Arsenal.

Of course, Arsenal are a very strong team but, for the last years, they have not been able to compete with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea for the title.
They have had very good players but have maybe lacked that one special player who you need to win a league as strong as the Premier League.
United have had Wayne Rooney and City have had Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez but Arsenal have struggled since Thierry Henry left.
Many Gooners are divided over whether Suarez should be our marquee signing this summer, but after missing out on Higuain there are very few options left. £50m is an awful lot to splash out for a controversial forward, but he would guarantee goals. Does Wenger really have any other options? Nope not really.
