Chuba Akpom has completed a season long loan move to Hull City, where he will hopefully see regular first-team football. Tigers boss Steve Bruce claims his relationship with Arsene Wenger helped seal the move, with the former Manchester United man taking a number of our players on loan in the past.
Players like Seb Larsson and Nicklas Bendtner joined Bruce on loan at Birmingham City and Sunderland respectively, not to mention the fact that Isaac Hayden has also recently made a temporary switch to Hull.
The two managers clearly share a rapport, and it’s nice to know we have someone we can trust to give our youngsters a chance.
“Chuba is someone who I like because of his ability,” Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail.
“He can score a goal and has bags of potential.
“He is still a boy at 19 and we may have to nurse him a bit, but he has frightening ability.

“He got three for Arsenal first team last month. I know it was against a Singapore XI but that still takes some doing.
“After that I didn’t think Akpom would be available. I’ve always got on well with Arsene, he’s always done me a turn. That relationship helps now and again.”
Earlier on this summer, Akpom looked likely to remain with the first team ahead of the new season. Wenger clearly believes he has a better chance of regular action with Hull though, so has allowed him to follow Hayden up North.
He has shown glimpses of real quality, so hopefully he thrives under Steve Bruce and returns to the Emirates a better player come the end of the campaign.
