With that in mind, here are four potential midfield pairings that we could see Wenger utilising next season:
4) Two box-to-box midfielders

We have been heavily linked with a move for Arturo Vidal recently (via the Metro), which seems strange considering the options we have in the box-to-box role. With the right discipline however, there are times when two box-to-box midfielders can work well together.
When our opposition is content to sit back and soak up pressure, there is little need for a defensive midfielder – unless we are in danger of being hit on the counter-attack. A deep lying playmaker can also be wasted, with the game forced into the final third of the pitch rather than being fought in midfield.
Arsene Wenger is known for sticking with what works, but if he begins to rotate a little more, then we could get some joy out of a partnership consisting of the likes of Vidal and Ramsey.
