Riyad Mahrez’s fine form this season has seen him linked with a January switch to Arsenal, and the 24-year-old has responded to the speculation that he could be on his way out of Leicester City.
He claims he’s happy where he is and has no intention of leaving this winter, suggesting he’ll remain with the Foxes at the very least until the end of the season.
“Why would I want to go anywhere? It’s not in my head to go now,” Mahrez said (via The Telegraph).
“I’ll just finish the season and then we’ll see. I’ve got four years here on my contract until 2019. Life is good.”
You generally can’t take footballers at their words nowadays, as they’re trained to give the correct answers in interviews. Mahrez obviously doesn’t want to ruffle any feathers at the King Power Stadium, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be lured away in January.
Every player has their price, and Leicester would struggle to turn us down if we threw enough cash their way. Despite their excellent displays this season it’s hard to imagine them keeping it up, and they don’t have the funds to keep hold of their best players forever.

If we really wanted Mahrez in January then we could certainly test his resolve, but do we actually want him?

His form suggests he would probably cost us a pretty penny, and he may well be a one season wonder – at least at the level he’s showing at the moment. He could prove an excellent signing, but could be a serious risk.
