German football legend Oliver Bierhoff has let slip that Schalke’s Leon Goretzka is set to join a Premier League club next summer (via The Metro).
As far as transfer announcements go, this one is far from the most official in recent memory.
Managers and players often know more than they let on but sometimes, this information gets accidentally blurted out loud.
This was the case when former German international and current business manager of the national team, Oliver Bierhoff was questioned about the differences between the Premier League and the Bundesliga.
“We feel that England, because of the amount of money you have with TV rights, young talented players like Leroy Sané and Leon Goretzka are moving to England and this is not good for our league but also for the quality of our game.”

Leroy Sane is already at Manchester City but Leon Goretzka is still at German side Schalke. The midfielder has long been linked with a move to a number of moves across Europe, including Premier League sides like Arsenal and Spurs.
It seems that the Premier League has won the race for Goretzka whose current contract with the Bundesliga side expires in the summer. However, it’s unclear which team, in particular, Goretzka will be heading to.
