Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud feels the Gunners responded in a positive manner to their mauling at Anfield following a goalless draw with Manchester United on Wednesday.
The Frenchman had the best of the home side’s chances as he headed narrowly wide from a corner before failing to direct Sagna’s low cross goal wards.
The 27 year old believes Arsenal have gained much needed confidence from a point against the defending Premier League champions ahead of their fifth-round FA Cup tie against Liverpool on Sunday.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, he said:
I think we had a good reaction after the bad result against Liverpool. I think it’s a good draw to be honest even if we could have scored at the end. It was maybe just about our confidence.
We did well in the first half especially but after we looked a bit tired. It’s OK, we had a good reaction on the pitch and I think that’s the most important thing even if we wanted to win this game.
I’m confident for the remaining games and we’ll know a bit more about our future after Liverpool and Bayern [Munich] because we want to play in every competition.
The Gunners were left ruing a number of missed opportunities in their 0-0 draw at home, with Olivier Giroud perhaps feeling he should have earned his side the three points as French international had five chances last night to put Arsenal back to the top of the table.

But there were some good performances from Ozil and Cazorla who combined well a number of times and the Spaniard looked the most likely to score from an Arsenal point of view. Ozil was much more involved, but the lack of pace in our team and the lack of options when we had the ball was in sharp focus last night.
A draw wasn’t the worst result for us but given how vulnerable United have been this season, to only take one point from our two games against them is hugely disappointing, but we’re still only one point off top and another big game out the way. We look tired and lacking ideas in the final third, which isn’t what we need with Liverpool and Bayern Munich to come in the next week.
