If we want to be top of the table come Christmas, then we need to beat Manchester City in our upcoming Premier League fixture. Both teams have injury problems heading into the game, and there’s good and bad news on both sides with just a few days to go.
Where Arsenal are concerned, we know that the likes of Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, and Francis Coquelin are all out long term (via Arsenal.com). There’s good news when it comes to Alexis Sanchez however, as the Chilean returned to training on Monday in a bid to be fit by this weekend’s game (via Metro).
Whether he’s able to start or not is certainly questionable – and we certainly don’t want to rush him back and risk further injury – but even if he’s able to make the bench it will be a huge boost.
There could be good news for us with regards to Manchester City’s injuries too, with some big names a doubt for the game. Sergio Aguero could be back for the game, although he’s unlikely to be match fit or ready to start (via the Daily Mail). Vincent Kompany is more of a doubt, although the report suggests he’s back in training this week.
City are an entirely different team without Kompany, and the stats this season show just how much they’ve missed him. They’ve had 0 clean sheets during his eight game absence, and it would certainly be in our best interest if he were to continue that absence for at least another week.
Man City in the 2015/16 Premier League. With Vincent Kompany: 8 games, 7 clean sheets. Without Vincent Kompany: 8 games, 0 clean sheets.

We’re in great form at the moment, and are more than capable of getting the win over Man City. Despite Leicester being top of the table, you have to imagine that City are our biggest rivals for the title this season, so this game will be the definition of a six pointer.
Arsenal transfer news
Obviously we want to be relying on our own quality and ability rather than injuries to our opposition, but an Aguero-less & a Kompany-less Manchester City are unquestionably far less potent.
