Granit Xhaka believes that Mesut Özil will be at Arsenal next season but the midfielder is slightly less confident about Alexis Sanchez (via Sport Witness).
Arsenal fans are desperately searching for more answers on what will be perhaps the biggest transfer story of the summer.
Nobody seems to know whether Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil will be at the Emirates next season but one man who might have some answers is Granit Xhaka.
The midfielder was interviewed by Sports Bild about the futures of Arsenal’s two star men as well as how the Swiss international thought his season went.
“I had the second most games in the squad, I couldn’t expect more personally,” Xhaka said.
“Unfortunately, we have missed our goal of coming in the top four, although we have made four points more than last season when Arsenal finished second.

“But I think we can be satisfied with the last third of the season, and winning the FA Cup has given us and our fans a bit more.”
The Swiss international was then asked about the future of Alexis Sanchez and whether he thought the Chilean would be leaving Arsenal for Bayern Munich.
“I hope not, of course,” Xhaka continued. “He has qualities on the pitch which are incomprehensible. He has made many goals and is also enormously important outside.
“Alexis can play with every team in the world – just like Mesut Özil. I have been able to play with many great players, but these two stick out.”
When asked about the German’s future, Xhaka was more confident that Mesut Özil
“I think so. I owe him a lot, he helped me a lot at first.”
It remains to be seen whether or not Xhaka’s words are accurate. There’s no doubt that losing either Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Özil would be a huge blow to the club, let alone losing both. However, The Swiss international does seem confident that at least Özil will be staying at the club. Hopefully, we will find out more in the coming weeks.
