Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports that he doesn’t believe Diego Simeone would be a good fit for the Arsenal manager’s job. The Argentine has been linked with the post in recent months but Balague thinks there would be a clash of styles if he took charge at the Emirates (via Sky Sports).
With Arsene Wenger’s contract expiring at the end of the season, Arsenal have been linked with a number of managers in recent months. One of the names at the top of that list is Diego Simeone but Sky’s Guillem Balague doesn’t belive that the Atletico Madrid boss would be a good fit at the Emirates.

“I don’t understand why Arsenal fans are so excited about the prospect of Simeone,” Balague insisted. He doesn’t represent the style of the club at all.
“He just doesn’t fit what Arsenal is about. Arsene Wenger has to decide his own future with a two-year contract still on the table but a style has been built at Arsenal.
“Not a very efficient style if you consider their success in terms of titles but a style is in place. Simeone doesn’t represent that style in any way.”
Diego Simeone has built a worldwide reputation during his time at Atletico Madrid. The Argentinean took charge in 2011 and has guided the club to remarkable success in what many believed was a two-club league in Spain.
Atletico’s qualities are obvious. They’re incredibly well-organised, difficult to beat and play a high-pressure system which allows for a lot of counter attacks. Simeone has won one La Liga title and the Europa League as well as reaching two Champions League finals during his time in charge of the club.
We’ve covered the Simeone to Arsenal links on this site and there are many Gooners who would be eager to have the Atletico boss on board. However, Balgaue does have a point. Simeone’s style of play is hugely different to Wenger’s preferred form of posession football. After over a decade of stability under the Frenchman, perhaps a dastric change of style wouldn’t be the best option for the club.
