Arsenal have been quoted £20m for Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic, if this report is to be believed, as the Croatia international nears a departure from the Allianz Arena.
His inevitable exit has been well documented, after recently admitting his desire for a fresh challenge since falling out with Bayern boss Pep Guardiola.
The Bavarians are set to welcome Borussia Dortmund frontman Robert Lewandowski to the club, pushing Mandzukic further down the pecking order despite enjoying two decent campaigns with the back to back Bundesliga champions.
Arsenal have been linked on a number of occasions with a move for the Croatian, who represented his country in this summers World Cup, as have Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea as well as Inter Milan.
It appears however that the Gunners are in pole position to land the 28-year-old centre forward this summer with Champions League football likely for the Emirates outfit, but will have to stump up Bayern’s £20m valuation.

The suggested figure is certainly a reasonable amount for a player who played an integral role in Bayern’s triple in the 2012/13 season, but was cast aside by Guardiola during the tail end of last campaign due to a number of confrontations between the pair.
The former Wolfsburg striker would be a decent signing for the Gunners, he is a brilliant finisher, strong in the air and could compete for the central role with Olivier Giroud. He is more like-for-like than offering us something different, but there is nothing wrong with that. Having another strong physical presence up front will continue to allow our midfield and widemen to flourish, while he can add a clinical edge to our attack.
Whether Wenger agrees is an entirely different matter, he refused to sign Demba Ba in the 2013 winter window because he was ‘too similar’ to Giroud, so the Gunners boss may be heading down the path of finding someone who adds a new dimension to our attack – someone like Alexis Sanchez who I’ve been frothing at the mouth for.
