Arsenal have been told to pay Lucas Torreira’s release clause in full if they want to sign the midfielder (via Sport Witness).
It seems likely that Lucas Torreira is a major target for Arsenal in this summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old is currently away with the Uruguay national team in preparation for the World Cup but it seems that the Gunners are already on the case.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the Sampdoria midfielder with talks reportedly ongoing between the club and player.
The player has a €25 million release clause in his Sampdoria contract, something which the Serie A side’s club president has spoken about recently.
“Lucas Torreira has a release clause. Everyone knows it. Whoever wants to take Torreira will have to work with that release clause: €25m,” he told Inter-News.it.

It seems that Sampdoria will not entertain any offers lower than that sum for the player who made 36 appearances last season. Reports suggest that the clause expires at the end of the month and with the World Cup providing a stage for the player to showcase his talents, that price will only go up. Let’s hope we can get this deal secured soon.
