Arsenal’s all-time top scorer Thierry Henry has leapt to the defense of Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez claiming that the duo could replicate their international form for club, if played in their preferred positions, as reported by The Sun.
Henry might no longer be part of Arsenal’s backroom staff but the Frenchman who finds himself embodied in gold outside the Emirates, has reinstated his loyalty to the Gunners.
The 38 year old in his job as a football pundit has been critical of his former side and has targeted some of the players as well as Arsene Wenger himself, something which has not settled well with a section of the fans.
Titis’s latest remarks have come in praise of Arsenal stars Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez who Henry believes the Arsenal boss has failed to make good use of. The Welshman in particular has enjoyed plenty of success for Arsenal in the middle of the park and enjoyed a return of 16 goals in the 2013-14 season, with arguably his most important goal coming in the last match of the campaign, the FA Cup Final.
The former Cardiff man has however fallen in the pecking order with the likes of Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil occupying the creative roles in the middle of the park and Ramsey pushed wide on the flanks.
Henry singled out Ramsey for his performances in Euro 2016 and claimed that he could be more useful to Arsenal in his preferred position rather than on the wings.

“You are always going to talk about Gareth Bale as he was outstanding, but for me Aaron Ramsey was as good, if not a bit better,” Henry said.
“He showed Arsene what he can do in midfield.
“Now we have Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, it is difficult when you want to be in the middle for Arsenal. But what was good for Aaron was that he showed everyone.
“Reading between the lines of what he says, he would prefer to be in the middle, but he will do a job on the right or wherever the boss asks him to play.”
The Frenchman was also critical of Sanchez’s role in the squad and opined that he is not being given the freedom which he enjoys in the national side. Alexis’ three goals in Copa America helped Chile win the competition for the second consecutive time and Henry feels that the Chilean could better compliment Olivier Giroud if allowed more freedom upfront.
“When I see Sanchez play for Chile, he is up front, free. Not on the left, not on the right. That might be something. If Alexis can be used in and around Giroud, instead of being wide, both of them will benefit from that, ” Henry added.
Ramsey in particular who has time and time again reiterated his desire to play in a central role will surely welcome Henry’s comments. Arsene Wenger on the other hand is likely to take this with a pinch of salt, with rumors of a rift between the two looming large, despite Theirry’s denial of any such happening according to The Sun.
Both the Arsenal stars are unlikely to feature in the opening fixture against Liverpool after being granted an extended break. Ramsey will have fresh competition once he returns with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Mohamed Elneny vying for a place in the middle of the park.
Wenger’s failure to add a world class striker to the squad on the other hand might result in Sanchez finding more opportunities through the middle with Arsenal short of options especially in the absence of Danny Welbeck.
