Higuain should be close to having his future finalised after former PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti was appointed Real Madrid manager, meaning a move away from Madrid could finally be sanctioned.
Juventus and Arsenal were considered the leading contenders for Higuain’s signature, but now with Juventus no longer in the hunt for a front man the Gunners now take pole position to land the prolific striker.
Nicolas Higuain (Gonzalos brother and agent) is quoted as saying by ESPN Soccernet:
If Tevez joins Juve, is Higuain closer to Arsenal? I think so. Juventus is a great club, but Gonzalo is too expensive for them.
Napoli are a strong team. Having said that, I cannot deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal.
Nicolas also goes on to mention Napoli who are likely to have to fill the massive void that will be left by their prolific front-man Edinson Cavani, who has been linked with a move to either Chelsea or Manchester City.
In saying this however, the quote clearly suggests that Arsenal are the now the team likely to land the Argentine, permitting some other team doesn’t come and hijack the deal.

There is always an element of doubt when talking about transfer speculation, but you feel there is enough concrete evidence to suggest Gonzalo will be a Gunner soon. Hopefully that official announcement comes sooner rather than later!!
