Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has praised Jack Wilshere’s qualities and spoken of the need to manage his fitness. The Arsenal midfielder is on loan at the club and made his Premier League debut last weekend (via Sky Sports).
It’s still strange seeing Jack Wilshere at another club but the Arsenal man seems to be settling in well on the South Coast. Wilshere came on during the Cherries’ 1-0 victory over West Brom last weekend and the 24-year-old’s new manager has praised his impact and said that we could soon see him starting a match.
“With the outstanding quality he has, there’s no doubt about that.” Howe said. “We’d like to see him in the team as quickly as possible.
“It’s a delicate balance between rushing him into the team and the long term. We have to think of that. We want him to play a lot of games for us so we’ll put him in when we think it’s right.
“I’ve been really pleased. I thought he had a big impact when he came on at a time in the game when the game was in the balance, really.
“We had lost the full control we had had in the first half and I thought he wrestled that back for us. It was a big contributing factor to us winning the game.”

So it seems that Eddie Howe is pleased with how Wilshere is settling in at the club. It’s also good to see that the Bournemouth manager is aware of the need to manage the 24-year-old’s fitness. Wilshere has barely played in the last couple of years so will need to be eased back into regular football. Let’s hope the midfielder can get 25-30 matches under his belt this season and return to the Emirates next year fit and ready to go.
