After being stretched to the limit for months, we’re finally starting to get some injured players back, and Danny Welbeck looks like the next player set to return, according to the Daily Mail.
The England international has been out since last April with a knee injury, with set-back after set-back keeping him sidelined for roughly nine months.
We were all hoping to see him back in action this season after missing the remainder of the 2014/15 campaign, with the belief being he would return after recovering over the summer.
This did not happen however, and Arsenal fans were furious to learn that Arsene Wenger knew all too well that the ex-Manchester United man wouldn’t be back before the transfer window slammed shut (via the Metro), but still opted against signing a new forward.
There’s no point crying over spilt milk though, and it looks as though Welbeck is finally going to return to training this week. The Mail’s report suggests he’ll be back in training on Wednesday, although after so long out it could be a while before we see him in action.
Our FA Cup clash with Burnley and our Premier League trip to Southampton are likely to prove far too soon for the 25-year-old, but beyond that it’s hard to know.

Arsenal transfer news
We’ve once again seen our title charge derailed somewhat this season by injuries, but we’re still well in the title race, and we’re finally starting to get some of our walking-wounded back. Danny Welbeck isn’t going to be a game changer, but he’s an excellent squad player and will give Wenger a few selection headaches once he’s fully fit.
