Arsene Wenger has been handed a big boost with the return of Danny Welbeck to full training. The former Manchester United player has been out of action since May but took part in training on Friday (via Arsenal.com).
The Gunners have hardly enjoyed the last couple of weeks. Back-to-back defeats, injuries and an unfavourable draw in the Champions League have taken the shine off what was an impressive run of form. The last few days have seen something of a change in fortunes.
It was revealed yesterday that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury was not as bad as first feared and Arsene Wenger seems to have been given another injury boost today. Danny Welbeck returned to team training on Friday morning after more than six months on the sidelines. The former Manchester United man has had a torrid time with injuries since his 2014 move to the Emirates but hopefully, that is about to change.
“Welbeck will need some time,” Wenger said in his pre-match press conference. “Friday is his first team training session.
“Of course it’s fantastic because for him it’s like starting a new career. He has been out for such a long time.”
As good as this news is, Arsene Wenger confirmed that he will tread carefully in the coming weeks. Welbeck did pick up this injury just a few weeks after returning from another long-term setback and the 26-year-old will be determined to not let that happen again.

“But I’m a bit cautious with the little setbacks you have when you have been out for a long time. You have to be patient.”
Patience is the key word here. Welbeck may be back in team training but he won’t be fully fit for at least three weeks and it could be even longer before he returns to the pitch. It’s important that Arsene Wenger doesn’t rush Welbeck back into action for fear of causing further injury.
