Just when we thought our injury woes couldn’t get any worse, Hector Bellerin has been ruled out of our clash with Bayern Munich with a groin injury, as reported by Goal.
The young Spaniard has been one of the standout performers so far this season, and has really come on leaps and bounds since his emergence last season. He has well and truly cemented himself as first choice ahead of Mathieu Debuchy, which is why it’s such a huge blow that he’s set to miss our trip to the Allianz Arena.
“The team news is that from Saturday’s squad we’ve lost Bellerin,” Wenger said in his pre-match press conference.
“He will not be available tomorrow night. It’s not a big problem, he has a small groin problem.
“Debuchy will play. I’m confident in him, I trust him. He’s 100 per cent educated, he trains every day, he played last week against Sheffield and physically he should be ready.
“We have nobody else back.”

Having to rely on Debuchy is a real concern, as the Frenchman has been diabolical whenever he’s taken to the field this season. He hasn’t looked interested in being there at all, and the minimal effort he’s put in has often cost us.
Against a team like Bayern Munich we really can’t afford any passengers, so Debuchy really needs to step up.
Wenger claims Bellerin’s injury is nothing serious, but it’s hard to know exactly what he means by that and how quickly he’ll be back.
To be without him for any length of time would be catastrophic, especially given the massive injury list we have already (via Arsenal.com).
