Zlatan Ibrahimovic is being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, but he recently hinted that he could snub all his suitors and simply retire at the end of the season, as reported by Swedish channel TV4 (via the Express).
As the report states, he’s been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, with a move to England seemingly very likely.
He suggests that there are options nobody has considered yet though, one of those being retirement.
“Maybe I’ll just retire,” he told Swedish television network TV4.
“Nobody’s thought of that possibility.
“I would prefer to go out at the top.

“Anything could happen next summer.
“When all the cards are on the table, I’ll see which direction I want to take.”
This may well just be a bit of classic Zlatan bull, with the 34-year-old known for stirring the pot with controversial comments. Certainly retirement at this point seems unlikely, especially given the level he’s been playing at with Paris Saint-Germain.
Wanting to retire at the top level is understandable, as so many players have dragged their careers out and jeopardised their legend status – Robin van Persie is fast becoming a perfect example. He’s still a top quality striker though, and it’s hard to imagine him having any shortage of suitors, including some of the biggest clubs in world football.
He doesn’t rely on pace in his game, so his age is likely to have less of an impact than it would on someone like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Theo Walcott. He really could still have a couple more years at the highest level, and at least one of those could be spent in the Premier League.
Arsenal transfer news
It would be fantastic if that were to be with Arsenal, but we’ll have to wait and see how real these links actually are.
