Arsenal legend Sol Campbell has ruled himself out of the running as the Tory candidate to replace Malcolm Rifkind in the soon to be vacated Kensington & Chelsea seat.
The former Gunner was heavily tipped to throw his hat into the ring, and had previously done nothing to quash the rumours that were swirling around.
He has now taken to Twitter however, stating that while he believes the position is a superb one, his political aspirations lie elsewhere.
- Arsenal will have to meet new £30million asking price for 25-goal striker
- [Team news] Arsenal line up vs Burnley – Partey returns to strong XI
- Vote: Who do you want Arsenal to draw in the Europa League?
Campbell can regularly be seen professing his political beliefs on social media, and is extremely vocal about his opinions.
It appears he will be getting involved in the political scene in some form or another, but it won’t be on the Kensington seat.
