In a rather unusual twist, it has been reported that Arsenal target Arturo Vidal has already been sold to a top European Club whose identity will be revealed after the Copa America, Jose Vicente Hernáez from MARCA reports.
According to the journalist, it remains ‘common knowledge’ that Vidal has already agreed to join the unnamed ‘great European club’ and that a previously imminent announcement was delayed following the player’s recent car crash.
Chile are currently in the semi-final of the competition and are preparing to face Bolivia. The current crop of players are chasing glory and looking to achieve what no other team has in the country’s history and clinch the Copa America title.
These latest reports coincide with what we heard previously from South American reporters, with the reliable Hernan Feler claiming that Vidal would join up with Alexis Sanchez in north London after this summer’s tournament.

Arsene Wenger did little to dispel those rumours, instead choosing to state that he admired Vidal as a player.

Arsenal transfer news
Arsenal fans are unanimous in our desire for a defensive midfielder to be signed, but whether or not Vidal fits the bill is questionable. The 28-year-old, despite his robust nature, operates with very little defensive responsibility for both club and country, something Wenger may have to kerb.
His likeness to Aaron Ramsey is also striking, the two pick up a similar position on the pitch and would make the arrival of Vidal even more confusing.
With the Copa America coming close to its conclusion, all should be revealed soon.
