Arsenal target Arturo Vidal was involved in a car crash in Chile where the Juventus man is currently competing in the Copa America, and is now being held by police following suspicions he may have been under the influence of alcohol, BBC Sport reports.

Hours after netting a brace for Chile in their sensational 3-3 draw with Mexico, Vidal finds himself in the centre of controversy during an important period for his nation.
We have reportedly agreed a deal for Vidal which will be concluded after the Copa America, something which was reported last month (via the Metro). Vidal is currently the top scorer at the Copa America with three goals in two games, but his late night antics have led to an appearance at a courtroom in Santiago.

“The driver of the red vehicle was under the influence of alcohol,” police officer Ricardo Gonzalez was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

Chilean outlet La Tercera have released images in the last few moments of Vidal in the dock as he waits to hear his punishment. Thankfully for the midfielder, nobody was hurt in the accident, but by the look of that Ferrari, Vidal may need a flash new vehicle.
Just what this will do to Chile’s hopes of winning the Copa America on home soil remains to be seen, but Jorge Sampaoli will certainly be hoping that he’s able to call upon his star man soon.
