Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, who’s currently on loan at West Ham United, found himself between the sticks during the final moments of their Premier League clash against Leicester City at Upton Park.
Fresh off their victory against us, the Hammers couldn’t maintain the intensity at home and while they were 2-1 down against Claudio Ranieri’s side, Adrian was sent off just after the hosts had used up their three substitutions.
It means that Jenkinson had to come to the team’s rescue, and during the brief moments he was in goal the 23-year-old didn’t concede – an achievement in itself.
Arsenal transfer news
After impressing on loan at the East London club last season, West Ham renewed the deal. We extended his current contract with us before he left though, suggesting that Arsene Wenger still sees a future for him at the Emirates.
Hector Bellerin is very much our first choice in that position, and after Mathieu Debuchy’s performance against West Ham it remains clear why the boss is desperate to keep Jenkinson on our books.
