The curtain raiser for the new Premier League season takes place on Sunday and our first team stars are ready for the clash against Chelsea at Wembley.
Following the final training session ahead of the London derby, the likes of Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin took to their social media accounts to state that they’re focused on the showpiece occasion.
The Community Shield is often disregarded in terms of its importance, but this particular fixture should weigh more heavily on our shoulders than it does Chelsea’s.
The Blues are the champions and are expected to challenge for the title though our credentials are still to be determined after what was essentially a disappointing season in the league last term.
Arsenal transfer news
Also, Arsene Wenger’s record against Jose Mourinho looms large and until we defeat him, the questions regarding our ‘mental block’ will always remain.
- Arsenal must outmanoeuvre Galatasaray to win race for £2m ‘bargain’ transfer
- Arsenal reportedly set to sign free agent after impressive trial
- Arsenal have ‘concrete interest’ in signing Bayern Munich II star
The Chelsea boss isn’t unpredictable in his approach against us due to our predictability, a scenario which could hand Wenger the advantage if we was to pull off a major surprise and apply the tactics we saw at Manchester City in January.
Before a ball has even been kicked in the Premier League, the players may be preparing for one of the most important games of the season.
