Arsenal’s first-team stars ensured that we lifted our second trophy of pre-season this past weekend, clinching it with a successful Emirates Cup campaign following victories over Lyon and VfL Wolfsburg.
Following the thrashing we handed the Ligue 1 side on Saturday, the game against the Bundesliga runners-up was slightly less spectacular, but equally effective.
Theo Walcott scored the only goal of the game after latching onto a lovely pass from the star of the show, 17-year-old Jeff Reine-Adelaide.
The Emirates Cup will count for very little in the grand scheme of things, but the confidence the squad will gain from consecutive victories could be vital.
Arsenal transfer news
Heading into the Community Shield clash against Chelsea next weekend, the all London affair could realistically be deemed as one of the biggest of the season considering what a win at Wembley would give our side.

We have never beaten Jose Mourinho and last season’s champions are certainly the team to beat. Another impressive performance at the iconic stadium could well keep the squad’s belief intact all the way through the campaign, until a potential title win in May.
