Arsenal’s first-team stars returned for pre-season training on Tuesday, with just over three weeks until our first competitive game against Chelsea in the Community Shield.
While there were some notable absentees, the likes of Jack Wilshere, Hector Bellerin and Per Mertesacker were all back at London Colney as they were put through their paces by the coaching staff.
For Wilshere, he’s set for arguably his most important season to date, with an important club campaign closely followed by a major international tournament with the European Championships in France next summer.

Pre-season also allows a number of youngsters to stake their claim just as Bellerin did last season, and Chuba Akpom will definitely be hoping to be the next starlet to catch Arsene Wenger’s eye.
Akpom, a former teammate of Bellerin in the youth team, was tipped to become the first player from that class to make the step up.
