A picture to make your heart melt.
Saturday marked the date Thierry Henry made his debut for us against Leicester City in 1999 and his former formidable striker partner Dennis Bergkamp took the time out to pay tribute to the Frenchman on his Instagram page.
Bergkamp and Henry produced football from another planet at times and guided us to two magnificent title winning campaigns under Arsene Wenger.
Playing as a chief creator, Bergkamp would often float behind Henry and his eye for the pass would often release our record signing who would predominantly finish well.
One of Wenger’s main regrets, when he finishes his career, may well be his failure to deliver the Champions League while possessing two of the best forwards in world football.
Arsenal transfer rumours
- Arsenal told ‘no less than £50m’ for top defensive transfer target
- Arsenal keen to sign 16th best ranked Premier League stopper
- Arsenal keeping tabs on €40m Italy star after ‘outstanding’ season
Comparing our current crop to those two stars is rather unfair given that you’d find it difficult to discover a more efficient partnership in Premier League history.
Hopefully, Henry and Bergkamp can team up once again one day in the dugout at the Emirates Stadium and aim to lead us to glory in another way.
