There were a number of comings together between Jan Vertonghen and Olivier Giroud during the North London Derby this past Sunday afternoon, but one was arguably a little stranger than the rest, as reported by the Mirror.
The two men were giving as good as they got for the most part, but the Belgian gave that little bit more when he appeared to grab a handful of Olivier Giroud’s man parts.

The first clash was in the Tottenham penalty area, with Vertonghen having a handful of Giroud’s shirt – clearly frustrating the Frenchman. The Arsenal man then hit the deck – arguably a little softly – but it’s hard to blame him when the officials were doing nothing about Vertonghen’s consistent fouling. He got to his feet angrily when nothing was given, and chest bumped the Tottenham defender to the ground; lucky not to be penalised himself.
When Vertonghen then stood up, he reached down and subtly grabbed Giroud’s junk. Nothing seemed to be made of it, and he then jogged off before the striker could react.

It was reminiscent of Vinnie Jones grabbing Paul Gasscoigne all those years ago, but what possesses a player to do that?
