A spirited performance from an Arsenal side which deserves a lot of admiration for the way they played. Coming back against the European Champions after a red card and a 2-0 deficit from the first leg was always a lot to ask, but the players left everything on the pitch and put in a magnificent effort.
Schweinsteiger opened the scoring after some sloppy marking from Santi allowed the German to latch onto a well placed cross and slot home past the helpless Fabianski. Lukas Podolski scored in his second consecutive match against his former club, smashing home from a tight angle, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain produced another stellar performance but was unable to inspire the Gunners to overcome the reigning European Champions.
Special mention to Fabianski for his stellar penalty save at the death to keep Arsenal undefeated at the Allianz-Arena over the past two seasons. Lets hope next season we actually win our bloody group.
