Arsenal Vs Crystal Palace
Barclays Premier League
Kick off: February 02, 2014 4.00 PM BST
Arsenal returned to the top of the table thanks to two superb Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain goals against Crystal Palace, the young Englishman is certainly making a case to be deployed centrally more often.
The stocky Englishman worked hard and troubled Palace’s backline with his pace and trickery, while he had the passing accuracy to boot. Finishing the match with a game-high two shots on target (total of four shots), winning two tackles, knocking a game high 5 accurate long balls, seven in total and running all over the show (check out the heatmap on the infographic), The Ox had an encouraging outing after only returning to the first team fold this month.
Despite Arsenal dominating the tie in the possession stats, owning a whopping 73% of the ball, it took them awhile to really break through the stubborn Palace backline in the first half. Ozil’s delightful chipped throughball to Monreal was their best opportunity, with their final ball often sloppy and without much conviction. A much better second half sealed the victory however, something that they need to shake out of their system with tough set of fixtures on the horizon.
