Tottenham v Arsenal
Barclays Premier League
White Hart Lane
Kick off: March 16, 2014 4.00 PM BST
Arsenal regained ground on Premier League leaders Chelsea and simultaneously dealt a blow to rivals Tottenham Hotspurs top four hopes with a battling 1-0 North London Derby win.
It took the Gunners just two minutes to take the lead in Arsene Wenger’s 999th match in charge, Tomas Rosicky rifling home an emphatic opener. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a clear chance to make it two, but failed and much of the game was spent weathering the storm that called for a resilient display from the Gunners.
Mertesacker racked up a season high 20 clearances, while Koscielny wasn’t far behind with an incredible 15. A number of vital blocks from the back line managed to keep the Spuds at bay despite the home side having several clear chances to equalize.
